HRH Princess Anne visits the Group (February 03, 2017)
Lincolnshire Wolds RDA experienced a memorable day on 3rd February when HRH Princess Anne joined members in their 45th birthday celebrations at the Lincolnshire Rural Activities Centre near Louth.
Family and friends watched riding lessons, a carriage driving demonstration and two RDA riders, Flossie England and Evie Toombes, took part in a paired jumping display.
Barbara Baldock, Liz Marshall, Jeannette Jones and Kerrie Lister all received long service awards from the Princess Royal, and she also presented ponies Cracker and Macauley with veteran sashes in recognition of their long service.
Riders, drivers and volunteers waited excitedly for their turn to meet the Princess as she presented each of them with a special rosette to mark the occasion.
Due to her late arrival because of helicopter problems, the Princess wasn't able to stay for lunch as planned but she did have time to cut the celebratory birthday cake before leaving.
Riders and drivers enjoyed a delicious buffet before going home to relive the day's experience which was featured on the local BBC TV news.
