We are fortunate enough to to have been donated funds this year, which in conjunction with our own fund raising means we can go to the Clwyd Special Riding Centre, near Wrexham again this year.
Please see the write-up and photo's below of last years holiday.
|Annual Summer Holiday at the Clywd Special Riding centre|
Thanks to the generous donations and sponsored events which have taken place over the last 12 months, we have had sufficient funds to enable to the group to take 8 riders and parents/carers, plus volunteers to the Clwyd Special Riding Centre at Llanyyd, near Wrexham.
The centre is a registered Charity and a member group of group of the Riding for the Disabled Association and provides residential riding holidays, meaning there is accommodation, catering facilities and ponies, all in one secure location, see their website www.clwydspecialridingcentre.org.uk
We have had a fantastic time, lots of riding in the outside school and along the purpose built railed tracks which snake around the hillside (not quite so good for the volunteers to run alongside when trotting!!)
So many hi-lights, on and off the ponies – the children loved the opportunity to catch, groom and tack up their own ponies as well as a small amount of tack cleaning. A group dressage to Ma Ma Mia, judged handy-pony course , going through the water at the splash as well as a team treasure hunt and talent show, and a new evening event, ‘Welly Wanging’, which Jay won with a tremendous throw and his delight and enthusiastic reaction will be remembered as a definite holiday hi-light.
We also enjoyed the opportunity to enjoy a horse drawn canal boat trip from Llangollen Wharf (despite the forecast, the only time we had rain!!).
A wonderful holiday, made possible by the commitment and enthusiasm of the parents and carers as well as the volunteers.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported our group this last year, –
THANK YOU from everyone at Lincolnshire Wolds RDA
